Food Nutrient Choline Can Help Prevent Breast Cancer!

Food plays an important role in disease prevention, and there is one food nutrient that can even help prevent breast cancer.  Considering the number of women who are diagnosed with this serious illness every year, it is certainly worthwhile to consider something so simple as eating a certain food to help prevent it’s occurrence.food nutrient in egg
Kelley Herring of Healing Gourmet recently sent out an email citing some studies on this very thing.  There was not just one study with the same results, but there were two from very reputable sources, the National Institute of Health and Harvard.
And what was this food nutrient that helps prevent breast cancer?
Here’s part of what Kelley had to say:
According to U.S. health statistics, one out of every eight women will develop breast cancer…
The good news is that there are many things you can do to dramatically reduce your risk… getting enough of a certain B vitamin could reduce your risk by up to 44 percent.
The following foods will help you to get more choline in your diet:
  • Egg (one whole) – 112 mg choline
  • Grass-fed ground beef (3.5 oz patty) – 81 mg choline
  • Cauliflower (3/4 cup cooked) – 62 mg choline
  • Navy beans (1/2 cup cooked) – 48 mg choline
  • Almonds (1/2 cup) – 26 mg choline  (learn more about food nutrients at Healing Gourmet)
She explained that choline, an important B vitamin, was found in these studies to help prevent breast cancer.

Choline Is A Key Food Nutrient For Many Body Functions

Choline is not only a good food nutrient to prevent breast cancer, but it is a key part of many fat-containing structures in cell membranes.  The flexibility and integrity of those cell membranes is dependent on having enough choline available.
Your brain needs enough choline to function as well.  There are two molecules that make up a large part of the brain’s mass, called phosphatidycholine and sphingomyelin.  These need choline since they are also fat-like molecules.
Not only that, choline is one of the main parts of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.  This chemical is what your body uses to transmit messages to and from nerves, so once again, choline is a key food nutrient for good health!
Preventing Inflammation with Choline
Inflammation in the body is becoming more widely accepted as the root cause of many diseases like heart disease, osteoporosis, type-2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s.  Well, guess what else choline does?  Yes, it helps reduce inflammation in the body.
Unfortunately, according to research done by Iowa State University, more than 90% of Americans are choline-deficient.  Is it any surprise?  For years we were told eggs were evil, and would do nasty things to our cholesterol.  But now it comes out that this was based on flawed information.
Ironically, it is now known that eggs are actually GOOD for your heart health.  Choline is a beneficial food nutrient for your heart and eggs are a good source of this vitamin.
It should also be noted that although eggs are high in cholesterol, an analysis of 224 dietary studies have refuted the fact that there is any relationship between dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol.  Saturated fat is the main cause of high blood cholesterol.

The Benefits of Eggs
Eggs are not bad.
Other benefits of eggs include the fact that is a low-cost high-quality form of protein, with about 6.3 grams of protein per egg.
Eggs are a good source of several food nutrients, including:
  • selenium,
  • iodine,
  • vitamin B2,
  • molybdenum,
  • phosphorus,
  • vitamin B5,
  • vitamin B12 and
  • vitamin D.
Studies have shown eating an egg for breakfast can help aid weight loss.
I could go on and on, but the point is, eggs are nutritious, and contain many food nutrients that are beneficial to your health.

7 Best way to prevent hemorrhoids

The best way to prevent hemorrhoids is to keep your stools soft, so they pass easily. To prevent hemorrhoids and reduce symptoms of hemorrhoids, follow these tips:
1. Eat high-fiber foods.
Eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Doing so softens the stool and increases its bulk, which will help you avoid the straining that can cause hemorrhoids or worsen symptoms from existing hemorrhoids. Add fiber to your diet slowly to avoid problems with gas.
2. Drink plenty of fluids. Drink six to eight glasses of water and other liquids (not alcohol) each day to help keep stools soft.
